We hear in today’s Mass readings
that a woman with hemorrhages is healed by Jesus because of her faith. Additionally, the daughter of Jairus is
awakened after the crowds proclaimed to Jesus that she has died. Jesus replied to the crowds, “Don’t be
afraid; just have faith.” Many of us on
this pilgrimage have experienced some profound opportunities where our faith
has been deepened. The Readings today
are a good reminder that the Holy Spirit is alive in each of our hearts, today,
just as faith was active in the lives during the time of Jesus. Many of us have experienced those moments of
intimacy with God, and many have been awakened.
There was a gathering of seminarians discussing how the Liturgy of the Hours has become alive and has provided deeper spiritual insights as they are being prayed in the Holy Land. God continues to communicate his love to us, and sometimes, we don’t always recognize those encounters with God. Praying in the Holy land has been a blessing and a great joy for so many of us. As long as we do our part by remaining open and receptive to His grace, God’s love continues to flow through us like a stream of water, transforming us daily. A great reminder of our Baptism, which was the starting point for our vocation.
Our first set of lectures on Ecumenical and Inter-religious dialogue has come to an end. However, we will have various speakers who will be speaking to us further on these topics as we continue with our pilgrimage. Furthermore, we have been learning about the importance of spiritual direction and prayer as a way of deepening our relationship with God, both as directees and future spiritual directors. There has been a great balance between our study in the classroom and visits to the different Holy Sites throughout the Holy Land. Our classes have been a great way to integrate our learning with the many great historical and archaeological sites as we visit and pray. God is good, and we have so much to be thankful for!!
